Passengers can now check-in online and we have made it easier for passengers to retrieve their bookings.
They can print their boarding card before they leave for the airport, drop any bags at the bmi bag drop and go straight through to departures. Online check-in is available any time from 24 hours before the flight and up to one hour before see below for further details.
Online check-in
Passengers can now check-in for their flight online before they get to the airport - this saves time for the business passenger!
They simply need to print their boarding pass before they leave for the airport, drop any bags at the bmi fast bag drop and go straight to departures. Online check-in is available any time from 24 hours before they fly and up to 30 minutes before departure.
- your client should go to online check-in at www.flybmi.com
- choose their preferred form of identification - booking reference and surname/credit or debit card used as the FOI or frequent flyer number
- if the online check-in service is available for the clients booking, a 'check-in online now' link will appear
Your client will be quickly be taken through the following:
- passenger selection, multiple passengers must be checked in individually
- security questions
- seat selection
- print boarding pass
- print e-ticket receipt
If the passenger is unable to print their boarding pass, they should go to the bmi premium check-in desk, or they cab also print their boarding card at the bmi web points located at London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Online check-in is currently available on the following routes:
- London Heathrow to/from Aberdeen, Amsterdam, Belfast City, Brussels, Dublin*, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hanover, Jersey, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Venice
- London Heathrow to Alicante/Palma (facility currently not available for inbound journey)
- Leeds Bradford to/from Edinburgh,Brussels and Glasgow
- Manchester to/from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow
- Edinburgh to/from Brussels, Leeds Bradford, Manchester
- Aberdeen to/from Amsterdam, Brussels, Norwich
- East Midlands to/from Brussels
Your client can use online check-in if:
- they are traveling on a bmi operated route as listed above
- they have booked directly at flybmi.com or via a travel agency
- the ticket must be an e-ticket
- when traveling on a tiny fare we will select the seat for the client when checking in and if the passenger is returning within 24 hours we will check-in the client for the return at the same time - once the seat has been allocated the client will not be able to make any changes
- the passenger must answer all the security question correctly
your client will be unable to use online check-in if:
- if the booking contains infants as we need to allocate appropriate seating
- if you have requested special medical requirements etc
- there are more than nine passengers in the booking
- if the passenger holds a paper ticket
Online check-in is available for passengers traveling from Dublin to Heathrow carrying hand baggage only. Customers with luggage should check-in using the self check-in machines at the airport.
*Passengers traveling on the Dublin to London Heathrow route who print their boarding cards at home must show an acceptable form of photographic ID at security.as specified below:
- valid passport
- valid photographic driver's license
- valid photographic EU or Swiss national identity card
- valid armed forces identity card
- valid police warrant card/badge
- valid airport employees security identity pass
- valid business photographic business ID
bmi web points
Our new bmi web points are all directly linked to flybmi.com - currently situated around the check-in areas at Heathrow, Glasgow and Edinburgh and in the lounges at Heathrow and Manchester.
Customers can use them to:
- check-in online (if more than an hour before their flight and on an online check-in route)
- check their diamond club account
Self check-in
Business and economy cabin travelers on a bmi e-ticket or with an ATB ticket can use bmi self check-in machines at most bmi airports.
- All machines can be used when traveling with hand luggage
- London Heathrow has a baggage drop at desk 7, terminal 1 for passengers with luggage for the hold.
- All business cabin passengers
- diamond club silver and gold members.
There is also a dedicated check-in desk for use by silver and gold diamond club members at Heathrow.
Return check-in
When returning within 24 hours of their outbound flight, passengers with only hand luggage can check-in for both parts of their journey at the same time.
Lounge / gate check-in
Some airports allow bmi business passengers and silver and gold diamond club members to check-in at the business and diamond club lounges or at the departure gates. Please note this is dependant on the individual airport’s policy.
New bmi e-services desk
This new desk at London Heathrow terminal 1 is next to Domestic Security. It enables passengers to:
- make and change e-ticket bookings
- check-in when travelling with hand luggage only
- collect boarding passes when using telephone check-in.
